Currently writing a paper about Apocalypse in The Sound and the Fury. Drawing heavily from The Revelation of John. Trying to contextualize the apocalyptic tone of the book by delving into the post-World War I attitude of the expatriate American writers. Planning to use a line from The Sun Also Rises ("I'm not going to be one of these bitches that ruins children") and that famous quote by Gertrude Stein ("You are all a lost generation").
Somewhat bothered, can not find the Christ figure. Leaning towards Benjy (33 years old, lamb + lion, sacrificial), but I really want to go with Dilsey. Going to end with the powerful (in my mind) connection between the idea of endurance in the Christian Foundational Writings (Rev. 1.9 is a good place to see) and the simple line given to Dilsey in the Faulkner-penned Appendix (written in 1945)--"They endured."
I have never used the Bible so much. I may know more about it than some Christians.
